Festival Season Giveaway by Honest Reviews and Lifestyle Tips

Announcing the festival season giveaway!

** This giveaway is now CLOSED
This giveaway was supposed to be live on Diwali, but I was down with fever and could not post it. Then I thought what better way of continuing the festive mood than this.

Honest Reviews and Lifestyle Tips is giving away this Organic Surge Gentle Meadow Shower Gel with Lavender and Geranium extracts, worth Rs 535, and I think it would be a great product to wash away the winter blues. It looks small in the pic but it's a HUGE 250 ml tube.

What Organic Surge says about this Shower Gel?

Being a part of this busy city life, we are prone to undue pollution. The contamination in the environment affects our health directly or indirectly. The effects could be internal or external. The most common external effects would be skin concerned matters. Skin is the most sensitive part in our body, hence keeping it in good health is pivotal. Do the same with Organic Surge Gentle Meadow Shower Gel which is ideally suitable for people with any skin type.

Extracts of Lavender and Geranuim are the key ingredients to this organic shower gel. These intense floral components have multiple benefits, because they act as an anti-depressant, antiseptic and a natural healer. Natural glycerine and Aloe Vera contribute to producing and maintaining sufficient amount of moisture from beneath the pores to over your skin. The vitamin E component acts as an anti-oxidant. Sodium coco sulphate and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice are other ingredients in this shower gel. All these ingredients collectively results in leaving your skin moisturised and relaxed. This shower gel balances both your body and mind. Give yourself a happy shower and feel good everyday.

  15. Hi Gagan,

I have very simple choices as far as bath products are concerned. In fact, i do not keep much information about this range. Anyways, whenever I wish to pamper my skin, i prefer home made products. So, for me, an orange peel and besan uptan is the best bath product for a refreshing skin !!.

  16. Yes, I do check the ingredient list before buying a bath or skin care product & I prefer organic and natural products. In the past, I had abused my skin and hair so much that I have become sensitive and the quality of my skin as well as hair is not he healthy self anymore and I need to be regular in keeping it proper. Even a day missed in between gives me problems.. be it acne, dandruff etc. Right now my favourite products are Rustic Art Aloe Shampoo (no.1) which doesn't dry out my already dry, straw-like hair but cleanses well. The Organic Srge Moisture Conditioner (no.2), I love it! It doesn't build up on my hair as well as scalp (yes, I do apply on my scalp as well) but moisturises well. And the Rustic Art Neem and Basil Face Wash (no.3; cleanses well and suits my oily, acne-prone skin) and Aloe Vera Gel (no.4; moisturises nd mattifies) and Omved Light Day And Night Moisturiser (no.5; suits my skin, smells awesome.. I use just one pump all year round but in winters use 2) and Rustic Art Sunscreen (no.6; in the mornings.. I have to massage it in but suits my skin)

Hey Gagan, this is off topic but Organic Surge products contain Sodium Coco Sulphate.. is that safe?

And yes, I have already liked and subscribed a long time back :)

    1. Dear Ray, thanks for sharing about your routine hair and skin care products so comprehensively. It is surely helpful. From what you have explained about your condition, lavender, neem or at least tea tree essential oil is a must for you. If you ever plan to try aromatherapy, let me know and I will share how you can easily incorporate any or all of these oils in your daily routine and make your skin and hair problem free and more immune. A lot of people tried these on my recommendation, even on their kids. In fact I am using oils for my kid too and trust me these work wonders.

Organic Surge Color Protect Shampoo was the only one that did not have any sulphates and they have discontinued it and have changed the ingredients for all their products recently. This shower gel we are giving away is the previous version as I had bought a 2-3 months ago just for giveaway. But yes, I saw their other shampoos contained Sodium Coco Sulphate which is actually SLES derived from coconut.. a natural source. Still it is a sulphate and people who don't have healthy skin or hair, it would dry them out. SLES is milder than SLS but falls in the category of sulphates only. I had tried their moisture boost shampoo but it dried out my hair. And the new ingredients, their reformulated shower gels and shampoos now have Ammonium lauryl Sulphate and Magnesium Sulphate. They even changed the preservatives to harmful ones and I wrote to Organic SUrge UK directly. They said they had received other similar complaints and are now again reformulating. This 3rd version was supposed to be released in Nov but I am not sure if it is in the market yet.The company that markets Organic Surge in India intends to keep this fact hidden from customers because they had bought a huge stock of the newer products and they wanted to quickly get rid of it.

    2. I am surprised that you apply conditioner to your scalp. It causes severe hair fall, I am not sure why you are doing it. Personally I am afraid to do so because it is dangerous in one more way. All the chemicals seeping and absorbing into your body and system because the scalp is thinner than the rest of the skin and chemicals absorbed through the scalp are more harmful than even consuming them orally. I use OS color protect conditioner.

Sorry for the late reply. I have explained the reason in your other comment below. All the best for the giveaway Ray!

    3. have been thinking of adding tea tree and lavender for some time now.. an would try neem too on your recommendation. thank you :) am kinda hesitant in using EOs so I would try their hydrosols from mokshalifestyle. OS products that I have now are the older version.. bought it a long time ago and as they have a good shelf life, I am glad I did. some of the bloggers updated me 'bout the change in their ingredient list.. I have used Rustic Art, Omved and Soultree too, they are good! try visiting their sites and talk to their representatives.. ask for samples. I find them amazing.. and they are easily available too.
Actually my scalp gives me a lot of problems.. and when I apply a conditioner or mask (without chemicals only), they are controlled. Soultree and Omved ones are good!

      Delete
    4. um.. have you heard of co-washing? so I first shampoo my hair, then co-wash :P

      Delete
    5. I am using Soultree's hair repair shampoo. I was to publish the review last night but not getting time. Pics need to be resized. I haven't checked all rustic art shampoos but one I had checked and it contains a certain alternative of SLS which is even worse and more damaging than SLS. Omved I am yet to try. EOs are an essential part of my life now and slowly my bhabhi is also inclining towards them.

    6. hmm.. would like to know 'bout what you found out 'bout the Rustic Art shampoo! details please?

  17. And... do you use toner? I am in search of a natural toner.. do you happen to know of any?

    Replies
    1. Dear Ray, sorry for the late reply. I did not have internet access all these days :( and it was very difficult. In fact it connected for a few minutes one day and I was answering comments on this page when it went down again.

I used to use a toner but not using any these days. I am simply mising a few drops of lavender oil in my face cream and that's helping. If you are looking for a natural toner, just boil some mint leaves and make a decoction and store it in the fridge. It can be used as a cooling toner. Else I have seen floral waters at Mokshalifestyle.com which I so want to try as a toner. Finally you can take rose or any available fragrant flower available. Put the petals in a container and pour some boiling water over it. Cover and let it steep for 20-25 min. Refrigerate and use as toner later. can stay in the fridge for a week or so. Else simply rub lemon on your skin. It tones the skin. This is all that comes to my mind at present. Will share more once I remember.

    2. won't boiling decrease the good properties of the ingredients?
yes, am gonna haul from mokshalifestyle soon :) they have a great collection of hydrosols :) and they have clays and extracts too :D

      Delete
    3. could you please tell me when they had manufactured the newly formulated products (the ones which have harmful chemicals in them)? I found some of these in my local store here.. and if I find them to be their organic formulas, then I'd pick them up.

      Delete
    4. Yes I would also buy clays in the next purchase and for hydrosols I would wait till summers. My place is very cold and I don't need hydrosols in such weather :)

Yes I know OS had tied up with a few hundred shops in Delhi around Aug-Sept and they were supposed to launch their own stores too. Most probably it's the new stuff. If you see methylisothiazolinone in the ingredient list, it is the newer stock. THey had bought around 300 pieces per product and I informed them that OS is reformulating again on receiving complaints. So the company in india was trying to get rid of those 300 pieces per item. Not sure how many left or if the next variation is out yet. I am happy to buy older stock from medplus. They have a 30% off going on, I have mentioned the coupons on the facebook page. Hey tell your friends to join the giveaway.

    5. yeah, I know they have them in stock but, I use the moisture one and it's outta stovk :/

    6. could you please help me with deciphering the ingredient lists of some products please? should I mail you or write them over here itself?

      Delete
    7. To answer your previous question, yes boiling does decrease some of the potency. That's why I would prefer ready made floral water and try. At present I am simply mixing a few drops of lavender essential oil in Patanjali beauty cream and it's working great. No need of a toner.

As for moizture boost, if it's out of stock, just take it that the new stock will now be the reformulated one. You can check out browsekart.com. They also keep it but people have mixed experiences from that site. I could never shop because the service was very poor.

For ingredients list , how many products do you want to get checked? If there is something really urgent. send me the details on email. I have personal commitments for the next 10 days so I might reply late.

    8. Patanjali Beauty Cream.. please do a review?

browsekart.com have loads and loads to offer.. but am scared how they'll turn out to be so never purchased from there :/

I can't decide for the best and worst skincare product I've used but yes, off late I've become very particular about buying organic bath products(all thanks to u:D) Skincare products are still the same with their regular ingredients but for bath products, I do use organic products now as hairfall and rough hair are something which bother me a lot so I prefer sulfate free products:) And m happy that I'm associated with your blog as it truly keeps up the spirit of using natural and organic things over costly chemical based things:):):) THANK YOU GAGAN :D:D

Finally we are able to find good products but it pinches me that chemical products are so cheap and brands are now charging us so high for NOT putting chemicals in their products, ironical! I am glad this blog helped you incline towards organic products.

  22. Hi Gagan,

Long time, eh? ;) I will mention two things in the "best bath products" category. They are not really products, but some natural remedies I use along with other products for better results. The first is olive oil. I have found that just mixing a few drops of olive oil in my shampoo makes my dry hair so soft and hydrated that I don't even need a conditioner after that! And the second is apple cider vinegar. I happened to find the tip about cider vinegar online. Using diluted cider vinegar on washed hair has helped me very much in combating dandruff and dry, flaky scalp.

    1. Yes my dear, I still remember the date I had received your email in Aug and I also knew it was your birthday somewhere around (leo) but something or the else kept popping up and now it has becomne a routine that I am not able to get to my personal emails at all :( But I keep looking at the postcard you had sent from Germany then. There's so much to catch up on.

Wow, you are using Olive oil just like we can mix essential oils in the shampoo. Why didn't I think of that before. In fact that's a great tip. Why don't you leave this tip in the comments on one of the articles under hair care? It will help a lot of people. And great that you have already tried Apple Cider Vinegar too. Yes, it smoothens the cuticles so hair appear smoother and shinier.

Thanks for the lovely inputs and for supporting me again by participating :) Good luck!

I didn't know a product like this exists, I mean something with crushed coconut extracts. I had tried one coconut vanilla shower gel from enliven and even though the gel wasn't good I have since been searching for a good one with these two flavors. So thanks for introducing me to yet another new name and am surprised how many participants have mentioned palmolive washes as their favorite. My skin is like yours, so I am sure it won't dry me out too.

All the best for this giveaway!

  26. HI Gagan,
So good to see so many people following your blog. Hope it continues to reach more people and generate awareness. Thanks to you I now keep an eye out for organic products and check out ingredients sometimes too. I have been using the soulflower shampoo soap and Himalaya shampoo on my hair but haven't got desired results yet need to use it for longer time. Coming to favourite products, I really khadi's rose water, bath and body works cherry blossom shower gel got two bottles as gifts and still using them. I think this fragrance has been discontinued now. And the age old home made ubtan of besan, haldi and milk is a favourite too.:)

    1. Thanks for the lovely wishes Jyotika. Seeing you here after a very long time :) The Soulflower shampoo bar didn't work for me because it was washing out my hair color. But try it with Apple Cider Vinegar and I am sure it will work much better. You can get that from Healthkart.com, just saw it yesterday. Or you can dilute a small amount of the shampoo bar and add more ingredients of your own but that's a bit time consuming. I will do a post on customising your personal care products, in the future so do check that out, it might help.

Cherry blossom flavor must be quite yummy. I am sure you are enjoying it. The home made ubtan is the best bet always when you want soft and squeaky clean skin.

Thanks for sharing about all your favorite bath products and wish you good luck for the giveaway!

  27. Already completed steps 1 and 2 long time ago. My favourite skin care product is Moonlight path body cream. It's made in US though. It leaves my skin very soft and fragrant.

In general, I prefer organic and natural products over regular chemical based products mostly because I have a very sensitive skin."
